This split recording between Ampere and Sinaloa is a perfect example of the dichotomy that exists within the screamo/hardcore genres. It’s peculiar that bands with such different asthetics can fall into the same genre. That’s certainly the case with Ampere and Sinaloa though.
Ampere occupy the harsher, more chaotic end of the screamo/hardcore genre. Emo-violence anyone? With members of Wolves and Orchid, it certainly makes sense that Ampere follow that lineage and sound. While the band does slow it down at times it surely seems that they never come up for breath on their side of this split recording. They roll through seven songs in less than ten minutes. The passion that flows from Ampere’s songs is a thing of beauty. I bet the band absolutely destroys live.
Sinaloa, on the other hand, touch on the more emotive and melodic side of the screamo/hardcore spectrum. It’s no surprise that I prefer the Sinaloa songs on this split recording. I’m at the age where I definitely prefer melodic to harsh. It’s also a fact that I believe Sinaloa is one of, if not the best band playing this style today. They bring to mind so many influential bands from the past like Rites Of Spring and Moss Icon. However, the band puts their own, more modern day, spin on the sound. Their songs pack so much emotion and pure heart into a genre that has become far too stale through the years. As usual, Sinaloa includes explanations of each song along with their standard amazing lyrics. It’s a genuine touch that the band has added to all their recordings. Do yourself a favor and check out Sinaloa’s last record, Footprints On Floorboards as well. Everything this band puts out continues to be gold. It’s almost overwhelming how good this band is at times.
This is a fanstastic split recording for both bands. Sinaloa wins out on this one but not by as much of a margin as I intially would have expected. As usual, the lyric sheet and the writings provided by both bands are a powerful and uplifting read. If you want to hear two bands playing truly meaningful music for all the right reasons you simply cannot go wrong here.

Il y’a des labels comme ça qui sortent toujours des disques énormes. Et Ebullition, label légendaire dans la scène emo, en fait partie. Avec ce LP à la couverture superbe, Ebullition nous offre un split avec deux des meilleurs groupes du moment de la scène screamo états-uniene. Disque sortis pour la tournée européenne de ces deux groupes.
D’un coté, on joue en 45tours. Et c’est AMPERE qui joue. J’étais déjà resté englué sur le 10inch… Et ici on reste exactement dans la même veine. De l’emoviolence bien rapide, avec de bonnes mélodies ici et là . Un chant bien hurlé…Et un côté dans la musique qui est pas sans rapellé ORCHID. Normal, vu qu’il y’a des membre de ORCHID dans AMPERE. Le groupe a également des putains de textes. Vraiment classe. Des textes bien revendicateurs, des textes bien punk. Des textes qui nous rappelle que le screamo ce n’est pas juste geulé dans un micro avec des t-shirt moulants et des lunettes carées. AMPERE, c’est le genre de groupe emoviolence comme je les aime! Ces 7 titres sont tout simplement superbes!
De l’autre coté, en 33tours, on retrouve SINALOA. Comme déjà signalé dans d’autres chroniques, cela marche assez bien pour ce groupe actuellement. Plein de disques sont sortis récemment pour eux, ainsi que des tournées. Et c’est tant mieux car ce groupe vaut le coup. Il nous offre un hardcore emo, qui joue sur un style screamo, mais sans un chant hurlé. Toujours bien pausé. Un style plus proche d’un emocore qui par certains côté peut faire pensé à du REIZIGER tiens. Ouais pourquoi pas…Le trio balance des morceaux aux mélodies envoûtantes, au son jamais chrystalin, mais toujours un poil noisy. Des textes toujours aussi bien écris, et complétés d’explications forts intéressantes. Un coté très personnel et même « hors du lot » ressort de ce groupe. Encore d’excellent titres donc pour eux, sauf un morceau qui a une rythmique batterie un peu bizarre?!
Le tout est empaqueté dans un LP à la couverture superbe! J’aime vraiment bien le art-work de ce disque. J’aime beaucoup le mini-livret également inclus avec ce disque et qui contient des textes écris par les membres des deux groupes. Au total 7 textes ou poésies, ayant pour but l’expression, la communication, et le partage d’opinions. Bravo, j’adore ce genre de démarche.
Superbe disque, partagé par deux superbes groupes…que j’ai malheureusement râté lors de leur tournée européenne. Hélas ce genre de groupe passent rarement près de chez nous…Dommage car je pense que c’est le genre de groupe qui doit en valoir la peine live!
